Access to justice
Too often, people in psychological distress end up in the justice system instead of receiving support. We advocate for the rights of people with mental health conditions, promote alternatives to incarceration, and demand fair treatment under the law – because justice must be fair for everyone.
Challenges
People with mental health conditions are overrepresented in the justice system. The issues include: the criminalization of people in distress, a lack of alternatives to incarceration, inequitable treatment under the law, a lack of mental health support in correctional facilities, and violations of fundamental rights.
